easyJet Small vs Large Cabin Bag: Check Which One Your Bag Fits

Quick answer: Every easyJet passenger currently has a free Small Cabin Bag allowance of up to 45 × 36 × 20cm, including handles and wheels. A Large Cabin Bag can measure up to 56 × 45 × 25cm. Both have a published maximum weight of 15kg. Enter the measurements of the bag you actually plan to take before deciding whether to add anything to your booking.

What the checker decides

The checker sorts the three measurements before comparing them, so you can enter the sides in any order. It evaluates size and weight separately and explains the exact side that exceeded a published maximum.

  • If the bag fits Small, size alone does not require a Large Cabin Bag.
  • If the bag only fits Large, the next action depends on what is already shown on your booking.
  • If the bag is outside Large, use a smaller cabin bag or consider hold luggage.
  • If the weight exceeds 15kg, a dimensional pass is not presented as a complete pass.

The result compares your entries with published maximums. It does not assume compression, add hidden tolerance, or promise that airport staff will accept an oversize soft bag.

How much larger is the Large Cabin Bag?

Small: 45 × 36 × 20cm = 32,400cm³ ≈ 32.4L

Large: 56 × 45 × 25cm = 63,000cm³ ≈ 63.0L

The Large theoretical bounding box is approximately 94% larger than the Small one. With the correct Large entitlement, easyJet’s currently published structure lets a traveller retain the Small allowance too. The two bounding boxes total approximately 95.4L, or about 194% more theoretical bounding-box volume than Small alone.

These are not actual suitcase internal capacities. Real usable space can be smaller because of the shell, wheels, handles, padding, rounded shape and construction.

When is the Small Cabin Bag enough?

Use the free Small allowance when your actual bag fits within the published limits and you do not need additional cabin space. Do not rely only on marketing labels such as “cabin approved” or “carry-on”. Measure the bag itself, including handles and wheels.

When does the Large Cabin Bag make sense?

Large becomes relevant when your bag exceeds the Small dimensions but remains within the Large dimensions, or when you deliberately want additional cabin capacity. With the correct entitlement, the practical comparison is often Small only versus Small + Large, rather than replacing one bag with another.

A paid Large Cabin Bag includes Speedy Boarding. easyJet Plus and Inclusive Plus benefits have booking and availability conditions, so check that your current booking shows the allowance you expect. The tool does not tell you to buy the allowance again when you say it is already shown.

How much does a Large Cabin Bag cost?

Do not rely on one generic online price. easyJet’s current operational Fees and Charges information says online prices vary with demand, route, flight date and time of booking. Check the actual price shown for your booking.

If you are also considering hold luggage, enter both prices into the comparison step above. PrismGist compares the values you provide and does not fetch fares, convert currencies or pretend one baggage price applies to every easyJet flight.

A cheaper price does not automatically make one option better. A Large Cabin Bag remains in the cabin, while hold luggage travels in the hold; packing, handling and weight rules differ.

Examples

45 × 36 × 20cm at 10kg

This is exactly on the published Small boundary. Entering it as 20 × 45 × 36cm produces the same result because the checker allows the bag to be rotated.

47 × 34 × 19cm at 8kg

This is outside Small but within Large. After the sides are sorted, the largest side is 47cm against the Small maximum of 45cm, so the explanation reports 2cm over.

45 × 36 × 20cm at 16kg

The dimensions fit Small, but the weight exceeds the published 15kg cabin limit. Size and weight are shown as separate decisions.

Frequently asked questions

What if my bag is only slightly too large?

PrismGist reports the difference from the published maximum. It does not assume airport tolerance or that a soft bag can be compressed.

Does Large replace Small?

No. Under the currently verified allowance structure, the correct Large entitlement lets the passenger retain the Small Cabin Bag as well. The normal maximum is one Small plus one Large.

Are both cabin bags limited to 15kg?

Yes, under the currently verified rules. You must also be able to lift and carry your own cabin baggage.

Is a normal cabin suitcase automatically allowed as the free Small bag?

No. Product labels do not control the airline allowance. A suitcase or backpack must fit the actual easyJet dimensions.

Does easyJet already have a bag-sizing tool?

Yes. easyJet currently offers a camera-based bag-sizing guide through its iOS app and says it should be used as a guide. PrismGist works in a browser with measurements you enter manually, then adds Small/Large classification, booking-entitlement guidance, an explicit next action and an optional comparison of the prices shown for your booking.
