Sources & Updates Policy

The primary-source hierarchy, verification dates, update process, and conservative fallback rules used by PrismGist.

Travel rules change by jurisdiction, airport, terminal, carrier, aircraft, route, and date. PrismGist therefore treats source quality and recency as part of the answer, not as an afterthought.

Source hierarchy

  1. Official government, aviation, security, customs, and product-safety authorities.
  2. Official airport and operating-airline policies or notices.
  3. Official manufacturer safety and recall notices.
  4. Reliable secondary reporting only when it adds context and is clearly identified as secondary.

We avoid using search snippets, unsourced summaries, forum posts, or AI-generated text as evidence for a rule.

Verification dates

A “checked,” “verified,” or “updated” date records when the cited source and the related rule logic were reviewed. It does not guarantee that an authority will not change a page or apply a rule differently after that date.

Update process

  • We review a tool after a relevant authority announces a material rule change.
  • We periodically check source links, dates, and route or carrier coverage.
  • We test changes against representative itineraries before publishing them.
  • When evidence conflicts, we retain the cautious outcome until the conflict is resolved by a primary source.

Unsupported cases

If a route, airport, airline, item, or product is not covered by reliable current evidence, PrismGist will not fabricate a definitive answer. The tool will recommend manual confirmation with the airport, operating carrier, regulator, or manufacturer.
